DEFINITION
Mentoring…or MENTOR-ing?

The fact is, enthusiasm for mentoring has far outstripped clarity about what mentor teachers and new teachers need to know and be able to do, and what defines success. MENTOR was created to address these key issues with skill, discipline, and singular focus on the unique needs and demands of the teaching profession.

Developed by education experts at Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College,
MENTOR offers school systems a carefully structured and thoroughly tested process that provides experienced teachers with the critical skills and understandings necessary to developing successful mentoring relationships.

What sets MENTOR apart is a disciplined focus on educating teachers to mentor. The program begins with the basics and emphasizes the fundamentals essential to building dynamic and productive mentor/novice relationships and to supporting the new teacher’s development.

MENTOR…’on location’ in your district connects your veteran teachers with more than a decade of research and mentoring expertise at two levels of training, Introduction to Mentoring Workshop and Training of Trainers Workshop.
