TRAINING OF TRAINERS WORKSHOP

The Training of Trainers Workshop is for experienced mentors who have been trained in The Introduction to Mentoring Workshop and have been selected by their school district to conduct workshops for new mentors. The Training of Trainers Workshop assists participants in developing expertise in

articulating the mentoring role;

defining the needs of new teachers;

presenting mentoring techniques that assist the new teachers' professional development;

encouraging and challenging experienced teachers in their commitment to mentor new teachers; and

presenting an Introduction to Mentoring Workshop

This workshop consists of a four-day course that reviews the initial workshop and provides participants practice leading an introductory mentor workshop. The following materials are included:

The Introduction to Mentoring Handbook (participants received this book in their initial workshop).

The Workshop Leader's Guide, 3rd edition (purchase required),

The video Reflective Discovery: A Post-Observation Conference (optional, but highly recommended).

The conferencing video created by Project Mentor demonstrates how mentors may use the Reflective Discovery model to conduct post-teaching conferences that lead new teachers to reflect on their practice and construct knowledge about how their teaching can become more effective.
